Abstract
Fantasy literature is an aesthetic structure that is formed by creating worlds beyond the laws of familiar reality, through the imagination of impossible events in ordinary human experience. This genre draws its strength from unreality and the intentional use of surprise, and creates a state of doubt in the audience that wanders between the natural or supernatural interpretation of events; this gives the text a problematic character that simultaneously combines the real and the absurd. The present study, using a descriptive-analytical method and based on the three stages of observation, classification, and interpretation, has examined the developments of fantasy literature in the novel "My Voices Are the Traveler" by Naeem Al-Mosafer. The aim of the research is to analyze the use of mythological and folk characters and traditional symbols, to understand the function of fantasy signs in the narrative space, to discover the link between fantasy and the recreation of reality, to explain its role in producing meaning and deepening the artistic perspective of the text, and to reveal the repressed in the collective unconscious by invoking mythological and folk heritage in the narrative structure. The findings show that fantasy literature is manifested in this novel at two main levels of characters and events. At the level of characters, mythical creatures such as "Sa'aloeh" and "Tantal" appear as hidden forces that transform the behavior of the characters and their perceptions. At the level of events, fantasy literature manifests itself through the violation of the laws of familiar reality.
